Carl Ludwig Funck

Carl Ludwig Funck (born July 11, 1852 in Frankfurt am Main ; † August 25, 1918 there ) was a leather dealer and member of the German Reichstag .

life and work

Funck attended the model school in Frankfurt and completed an apprenticeship in his father's business from 1868 to 1871. He then completed his military service year and had a stay in England for further commercial training from 1872 to 1874. Then he returned to his father's business, which he did after the death of his father in 1884 he was the sole director. He was a member of the city council in Frankfurt a. M. since 1883 and member of the Hessen-Nassau Provincial Parliament from 1877 until his death.

In 1892/93 and from 1899 to 1913 he represented Frankfurt in the Prussian House of Representatives . From 1890 to 1893 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Wiesbaden 1 Obertaunus, Höchst, Usingen and the German Liberal Party .

In parliament, he was particularly committed to founding the University of Frankfurt . In recognition of his services, the Faculty of Law made him one of its first honorary doctorates . Funck was a member of the Board of Trustees and the Grand Council of Frankfurt University and a member of the board of directors of the New Theater .

Funckstraße is named after him in the Kuhwaldsiedlung in Frankfurt-Bockenheim .
