Carlo Zen (bishop)

Felice Carlo Gasparo Zen (born October 23, 1772 or 1773 in Venice , † June 29, 1825 in Rome ) was an Italian Curia Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

He came from a family of the Venetian patriciate , which was confirmed to him as a title of nobility by resolution of the Viennese court on December 18, 1817. The ordination received Carlo Zen on 23 October 1803. He continued his studies at the College of Barnabites in Bologna continued, and later in Rome. After the French occupation in 1808, he went back to his hometown. After the restoration of the papal state , he briefly attended the academy of the ecclesiastical nobility in 1814 and then entered the service of the curia . On March 10, 1816, he obtained the degree of Doctor iuris utriusque .

Carlo Zen was named Titular Archbishop of Chalcedon on April 29, 1816 . The episcopal ordination donated him on May 19, 1816 Giovanni Filippo Gallarati Cardinal Scotti ; Archbishops Candido Maria Frattini and Pietro Caprano were co-consecrators . On August 14, 1816, Carlo Zen was appointed nuncio in Lucerne. On November 26, 1817, he was appointed nuncio in Paris, but he was unable to exercise this function because the concordat negotiations between the Holy See and France were suspended. In 1819 he became secretary of the Congregation for Bishops and Regulars .

He died in Rome in 1825 and was buried in the local church of San Carlo ai Catinari .
