Carmen de Ruíz is a town in the Santa Cruz Department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Carmen de Ruíz is the central place of the Vicecantón El Carmen de Ruíz. The municipality is located in the canton of San Ignacio de Velasco in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) of San Ignacio in the province of Velasco . The village is located at an altitude of 362 m on the right bank of the Río Paraguay , which flows into the Río Tarvo , which in turn drains to the Río Mamoré . The nearest town is San Javierito 16 kilometers south, the nearest larger city is San Ignacio de Velasco 41 kilometers south of Carmen de Ruiz.
