The Pillco Marca District is located in the Huánuco Province in the Huánuco Region in central Peru . The district was established on May 5, 2000. It has an area of 68.74 km². In 2017 the population was 43,818. In 2007 this was 23,896. The population is mostly of indigenous descent with Quechua as their mother tongue . The administrative seat of the district is the city of Cayhuayna with 35,682 inhabitants , located on the left bank of the Río Huallaga at 1930 m altitude (as of 2017). Cayhuayna is 3.5 km south-southwest of the regional and provincial capital Huánuco and belongs to their metropolitan area.
Geographical location
The district of Pillco Marca is located in the Peruvian Central Cordillera . It has a longitudinal extension in NW-SE direction of 44 km. The extreme southeast of the district is traversed by the Río Huallaga.
The Pillco Marca district is bordered to the west by the districts of San Francisco de Cayrán and San Pedro de Chaulán , to the north by the Huánuco district , to the northeast by the Amarilis district , and to the southeast by the districts of Conchamarca , Huácar and Cayna (all three in the province Ambo ).
