Life

Bonanotte was born on the Adriatic coast , in Porto Recanati , Marche . He spent his childhood in the workshop of his father Tobia , a carpenter, between materials and tools that would gain in importance in his later career. Together with his younger brother Raffaele he attended the local art school and at the age of 16 went to Rome , where he attended the sculpture course at the Accademia di Belle Arti . Thanks to a scholarship, he had the opportunity to familiarize himself with the work of Constantin Brâncuși in Romania ; During his studies he received, among other things, the academic prize for sculpture, which was awarded by a renowned jury ( Giorgio De Chirico , Pericle Fazzini , Giuseppe Ungaretti ). After he finished his studies, at just 24, he was a lecturer for design and modeling to the Accademia and to the Liceo Artistico di Roma appointed

During this time he had a studio in Via Canova , which became a meeting place for many artists (including Pericle Fazzini and José Ortega ). He had his first solo exhibition in 1971, at the age of 28, in the Galleria Schneider in Rome. His work was particularly appreciated by Kimihiro Fuji , a Japanese gallery owner who was fascinated by his work and who opened the door to Japan (Sol Levante) for the artist, which would be of vital importance for the artist's development and work. In 1974 he won the competition for the anniversary celebrations for Michelangelo for the design of the " Scultura polimaterica " (multi-material sculpture) in Caprese Michelangelo for the Museo-Casa natale .

In the following years he had various international exhibitions in Osaka (1975), Luxembourg (1976), Florence (1979), Tokyo (1977-1980-1981-1982), Vienna (1977), Cologne , Bonn (1988), Berlin (1991 ), Toronto (1984), Montreal (1984–1985), Chicago and Paris (1988).
