Cervelló is a Catalan city in the province of Barcelona in northeastern Spain . It is located in the Comarca Baix Llobregat and belongs to the metropolitan area Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona .

Over 2300 hectares of the district are covered by forest. The main agricultural products are wine, grain and fruit. In the last third of the 19th century a rapid industrialization process began, which led to a significant increase in population. The main industries at that time were glass, cotton and paper processing.

Today the construction, the metal industry and the silk and paper processing form the economic basis of the city. The traditional glass industry still exists on a small scale. In the food sector, the production of cava is of some importance, even if the most famous brand, Rondel , has been produced and bottled at the Codorníu headquarters in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia since 2005 .

The place arose around the castle Cervelló , 1 km south of today's place and already mentioned in 992, on the driveway to the Ordal pass .
