Sant Esteve Sesrovires (an outdated Catalan expression for Saint Stephen of the Oaks , locally Sesrovires for short , Spanish San Esteban de Sasroviras ) is a Catalan municipality in the province of Barcelona in northeastern Spain . It is located in the Comarca Baix Llobregat and belongs to the metropolitan area Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona . The population is 7,612 (as of 2019).

An incorrect press report by the Guardia Civil , in which the name of the city was incorrectly given as Sant Esteve de les Roures , led to the emergence of the internet phenomenon of the same name during the Catalonia crisis in 2018 and established itself as a political joke .
