Chad William Zielinski (born September 8, 1964 in Detroit , Michigan ) is Roman Catholic Bishop of Fairbanks .

Life

Zielinski attended Alpena High School . After graduating from high school in 1982, he joined the United States Air Force and served in a Supply Squadron from 1983 to 1986 . In the second half of the 1980s he decided to become a priest . He attended from 1986 to 1989, the seminary Mt. Angel Seminary in Oregon , during which time he was a member of the reserve of the Air Force. He then studied theology at the Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. On June 8, 1996, Zielinski received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Gaylord from Bishop Patrick Ronald Cooney . Zielinski served in the diocese for the next six years . From 1996 to 1998 he was an associate pastor of the Immaculate Conception Church in Traverse City , Michigan. From 1998 to 2002 he was pastor of the parishes of St. Philip Neri in Empire , Michigan and St. Rita / St. Joseph in Maple City , Michigan. In addition, was active in the care of the Spanish-speaking parishioners of the diocese and carried out masses, weddings and baptisms in Spanish . He then became a member of the Air Force's Chaplain Corps in 2002 . As a military chaplain , he was stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base , North Dakota from 2002 to 2003 , and at Royal Air Force Station Mildenhall in England from 2003 to 2005 . From 2005 to 2009 he worked in the Air Force Chaplain Corps Recruiting Office in San Antonio , Texas . From 2009 to 2012 he was in charge of the Cadet Chapel of the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs , Colorado .

On November 8, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Fairbanks. At that time he was Deputy Wing Chaplain of the 354th Fighter Wing at Eielson Air Force Base , Alaska . The Archbishop of Anchorage , Roger Lawrence Schwietz , donated him episcopal ordination on December 15 of the same year. Co- consecrators were Military Archbishop Timothy Broglio and the Bishop of Gaylord , Steven John Raica .
