Chorzele [ xɔʐɛlɛ ] ( German choir cells , older Korschellen ) is a city in Poland in Masovian .

history

In 1473 the village of Chorzele was first mentioned in a document. On May 15, 1542 the place received the city charter according to Magdeburg law from Sigismund I. bestowed. During the Second Northern War , the city was badly destroyed around 1660 and the number of inhabitants fell sharply. During the Third Partition of Poland , the place came under Prussian rule . After the Peace of Tilsit was concluded, Chorzele came to the newly formed Duchy of Warsaw and in 1815 to Congress Poland . During the January uprising of 1863/64 against the division of Russia, there were also clashes between insurgents and Russian soldiers in the area of Chorzele. Chorzele lost its town charter in 1870 when Tsar Alexander II reduced the number of towns on Polish territory. On September 1, 1939, the Wehrmacht marched into the city. The city remained occupied by the Germans until the Red Army invaded . This took place on January 20, 1945 by the 3rd Army.

Population development

The population development can be seen in the following table. In 1565 there were 121 residential buildings in the city.
