Chris Hedquist
Christopher Hedquist (born April 6, 1980 in Salt Lake City ) is an American skeleton driver .
Chris Hedquist made his international debut in ninth place at the 2003 North American Skeleton Championships in December 2002 in Park City . Shortly thereafter, he was runner-up at the US Junior Championships behind Caleb Smith and fourth at the 2003 Junior World Championships in Königssee . In December 2003 he made his skeleton European Cup debut in Altenberg as third place , then in Calgary at the America's Cup , where he was second twice behind Zach Lund . In March 2004, he won the bronze medal at the national championships in the USA. In addition, he won the overall ranking in the European Cup in the 2003/04 season in front of the Germans Michi Halilovic and Matthias Biedermann .
In November 2004, Hedquist won his first America's Cup race in Calgary. In January 2005, he won the Universiade . In November of that year Hedquist won a European Cup race in Igls . This was followed by four victories in America's Cup races and in January 2006 the Skeleton World Cup debut as 15th in Altenberg . He finished the America's Cup 2004/05 season in second place behind Brady Canfield , the following season in third place. Hedquist narrowly missed qualifying for the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin . Since the 2006/07 season he has competed regularly in the World Cup. The best result so far was a fifth place in December 2006 in Lake Placid . He finished seventh in the overall World Cup. In 2007 he also took part in the skeleton world championships for the first time and was twentieth in St. Moritz .
