Andy Boehme

Andy Böhme (born April 26, 1970 in Salzwedel ) is a former German skeleton pilot .

Andy Böhme from BSR Rennsteig Oberhof was trained as part of the competitive sports promotion of the GDR. From 1990 to 1992 he practiced bobsleigh as a hobby and switched to skeleton in 1992. From 1994 on, Böhme was part of the German national team. He made his debut in January 1993 at a World Cup in Oberhof (27th). It was not until December 1997 that he finished fifth in the top ten at a race in La Plagne for the first time . In February 1999 he won his only World Cup race in Königssee . In 1997/98 he finished third in the overall World Cup, in 1998/99 and 1999/2000 he won the competition two seasons in a row. After a disc problem, the trained physiotherapist was unable to start the following season. Slowly Böhme tried to catch up with the European Cup . He has won four races here since January 2001 and the overall standings for the 2000/01 season. However, his attempts to gain a foothold in the World Cup no longer came with the old successes.

In 1994 Böhme started at world championships for the first time and was 16th. 1997 in Lake Placid he achieved a place in the top 10 for the first time in seventh place. In 1998 in St. Moritz he won silver behind Willi Schneider . In the following year in Altenberg , Böhme narrowly missed a medal and in his last world championship in 2000 in Igls , Böhme was again world champion. At the German championships, Böhme won a medal for the first time in 1995 as third. In 1998 and 1999 he won the title. In 2002, Böhme was second again behind Willi Schneider.
