Christopher "Chris" Mears (born February 7, 1993 in Reading , England ) is a British water diver . He starts for the City of Leeds Diving Club in the disciplines of art and synchronized diving .
In 2010 Mears became British Champion for the first time. In 2008 he also won silver from the 1 m board and bronze from the 3 m board and 10 m tower at the European Junior Championships.
Mears played his first international competition at the 2010 European Championships in Budapest . In artificial jumping from the 1-meter and 3-meter board, he was eliminated in the preliminary competition, in the 3-meter synchronized jumping he was fifth together with Nick Robinson-Baker . At the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi he was again fourth with Robinson-Baker in the 3-meter synchronized jumping. The duo reached seventh place at Mears' first world championship in Shanghai in 2011 .
At the World Cup in February 2012 he was tenth in synchronized jumping from the 3-meter board, at the European Championships in May 2012 eighth in artificial jumping from the 3-meter board and fifth in synchronized jumping from the 3-meter board and at the Olympic Games in August 2012 Ninth in artificial jumping from the 3-m board and again fifth in synchronized jumping from the 3-m board.
He won the 2014 Commonwealth Games in 3-meter synchronized jumping with his dubbing partner Jack Laugher .
Mears and Laugher achieved his greatest success to date at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro , when both won the competition in synchronized jumping from the 3-meter board.
