Christian Dreier (born December 22, 1610 in Stettin ; † August 3, 1688 in Altstadt (Königsberg) ) was a Lutheran theologian in Königsberg.

Life

Dreier studied law, philosophy and theology at the University of Jena , the University of Wittenberg and the University of Rostock . He worked as a pastor in Stralsund and Stettin. 1644 he was at the University of Königsberg to Dr. theol. doctorate and in the same year appointed associate professor for theology.

As an envoy of the Prussian Duke Friedrich Wilhelm , the Great Elector, he took part in 1645 in the Dear Thorner Religious Discussion . King Władysław IV. Wasa of Poland had invited to this conversation , who wanted to help settle disputes between the Christian denominations.

In 1649 Dreier also became court and palace preacher in Königsberg, and in 1657 he received the first professorship for theology. Dreier also took part in the organizational tasks of the Königsberg University and was involved in the winter semesters 1658/59, 1660/61, 1662/63, 1666/67, 1670/71, 1674/75, 1678/79, 1682/83, 1686 / 87 Vice Rector of the Albertina.

In the syncretistic dispute , Dreier emerged as a supporter of Georg Calixt . His son of the same name (* 1659) also became professor of theology in Königsberg, but died in 1691.
