Christian Fuchs (journalist)

Christian Fuchs (* 1979 ) is a German journalist and author . He writes as a reporter for the weekly newspaper Die Zeit .

Life

Fuchs studied media studies, psychology, and economic and social history at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and was trained as an editor at the Henri Nannen School in Hamburg . Since 1998 he has been writing about society, media, economy, politics and urban culture - with a focus on East Germany. He published, among others, in the daily newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung , in the weekly magazines Die Zeit and Der Spiegel as well as in its online news portal Spiegel Online . Reports and analyzes by him have also appeared in brand eins , Das Magazin , Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin , Zeit Magazin and Vanity Fair .

Fuchs is the author of the Spiegel bestseller The Network of the New Right (together with Paul Middelhoff). He wrote Secret War about Germany's role in the war on terror in the USA and, with Diezelle, published the first non-fiction book about the right-wing extremist terror group National Socialist Underground (NSU), both together with John Goetz . In 2012 he appeared in the TV documentary series Die neue Nazis , a co-production by Spiegel TV and ZDFinfo about the history and developments of modern right-wing extremism since the mid-1960s.

His book Secret War was decisive for the start of the play Game of Drones 2015 at the State Theater Mainz . In 2016, Fuchs won the slam “Storylight live” at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg with his contribution Game of Drones , in which journalists from everyday research slam. For a story about the right-wing extremist terror group NSU in the comic book Bruchlinien: Drei Episoden zum NSU (2019), Fuchs was an adviser.
