Christian Gottlieb Georg von Zschock (born March 21, 1737 in Greifenberg in Pomerania , † April 29, 1809 in Hamm ) was a Prussian major general and most recently the commander of the von Manstein infantry regiment .

Life

origin

His parents were the senator and mayor of Greifenberg Karl Ludwig Zschock († September 30, 1797) and his wife Sophie Hedwig, née Ebel.

Military career

Zschock went on August 21, 1757 as a musketeer in the infantry regiment "von Manteuffel" . From 1757 to 1760 he fought in the Seven Years' War in the battles near Roßbach , Kay , Kunersdorf and the siege of Prague. He was wounded in the left arm in Kunersdorf, was taken prisoner by Maxen and was only released at the end of the war. Because of his bravery in the face of the enemy, he was transferred as an ensign to the infantry regiment "von Schenckendorf" on August 9, 1759 , where he was also second lieutenant on December 12, 1761 .

After the war he became Premier Lieutenant on August 14, 1771 and as such took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . On August 13, 1780 he was staff captain and on April 1, 1785 captain and company commander . On April 10, 1787 he was raised to the nobility. In the same year he took part in the campaign in Holland , where he fought in the battle near Oudekerke. On July 3, 1790 he became major and on October 22, 1792 battalion commander. During the First Coalition War , he fought in the battles at La Lune, Frankfurt am Main, Hochheim, Diedesheim and the battle of Kaiserslautern and the sieges of Mainz and Landau. For this he received the order Pour le Mérite on July 17, 1793 . On July 9, 1794 he was appointed commander of the "von Manstein" infantry regiment. On May 20, 1798 he rose to lieutenant colonel and on May 20, 1800 to colonel . On January 6, 1806 he said goodbye and received a pension of 600 thalers in addition to his promotion to major general.

In addition, from January 25, 1806, he received an allowance of 200 thalers. After the lost war of 1806 , however, the pension was no longer paid. He died in great poverty in Hamm on April 29, 1809.

Zschock was married twice. On March 27, 1792 he married Henriette Elisabeth Wilhelmine Hinke (* 1770; † August 12, 1794), a daughter of the war and domain councilor of Hamm Friedrich August Hincke . The couple had several children:

  • Karl Ludwig Georg (born May 9, 1788)

After the death of his first wife, he married her sister Luise Henriette Therese Christiane Hinke († September 5, 1855) on December 29, 1801.

He also had a son with Luise Eleonore Ernestine Wolfgang:

  • Siegfried Karl Christian (* May 2, 1768; † September 18, 1794), died near Asselborn as a second lieutenant in the "von Kunitzky" infantry regiment
