Christian Manz (born January 7, 1954 in Herford ) is a German CDU local politician . In October 2009 he took office as the 16th district administrator of the East Westphalian district of Herford . Jürgen Müller ( SPD ) was elected as his successor in September 2015 . Christian Manz was no longer running in this election. Before that ( 1995 to 2009 ) he was mayor of the city of Spenge .

education and profession

Manz passed his Abitur at the Friedrichs-Gymnasium in Herford . He then trained as a bank clerk at Deutsche Bank AG in Herford . He then went on to study law and political science and economics at the Ruhr University in Bochum . After a two-year legal traineeship for teaching at vocational schools and his military service , Manz worked at the Erich Gutenberg vocational school in Bünde from 1983 , mainly in the area of ​​federal and local government.

Manz became mayor of Spenge in 1995 . He took office on November 1, 1995 and was elected by the city council. He was confirmed in office in 1999 and 2004 in a direct election by the city's electorate. In 2004 he received 70.39 percent of the vote in the first ballot. Manz was the first full-time mayor and at the same time replaced the last city director, whose administrative tasks were now also carried out by Manz. Manz did not run for the mayoral election in 2009 because he was running for the office of district administrator of the Herford district. Bernd Dumcke (SPD) was elected as his successor.

In the district election on August 30, 2009 , the previous district administrator Lieselore Curländer (CDU) was no longer up for election. Christian Manz, who ran for CDU and FDP, was elected as her successor with 48.15% of the valid votes. His term of office began in October 2009 and ended after six years in office in 2015. Manz did not run for the 2015 district election.

Private

Manz is married and has two daughters. He is an active firefighter and helper at the German Red Cross . His other private interests are riding a motorcycle and making music.
