Christine Botlogetswe (born October 1, 1995 in Rakops ) is a Botswana sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Christine Botlogetswe gained her first international experience at the Junior African Championships 2011 in Gaborone , where she finished eighth in 55.87 seconds and finished fourth with the Botswana 4 x 400 meter relay . She then took part in the Youth World Championships in Villeneuve-d'Ascq near Lille , where she was eliminated in the first round in 59.13 s. Also at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona the following year, she could not qualify for the final with 55.26 s. In 2013 she finished sixth in the Junior African Championships in Moka in 56.72 s. At the 2014 African Championships in Marrakech , she retired in the 200-meter run with 25.75 seconds in the lead and won the bronze medal in the Botswana relay in 3: 40.28 minutes. At the 2015 IAAF World Relays in the Bahamas , she finished fifth in the B final with 3: 35.76 minutes. At the Africa Games in Brazzaville she was eliminated over 400 meters with 54.32 seconds in the semifinals and won the relay in 3: 32.84 minutes after the team from Nigeria was subsequently disqualified for a doping offense.

At the 2016 African Championships in Durban , she finished sixth in 53.31 s and finished fourth in the relay in 3: 31.54 min. She also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated with 52.37 s in the lead . At the IAAF World Relays 2017 she finished sixth in 3: 30.13 min and also qualified for the World Championships in London . In the individual competition she was eliminated in the first round with 53.50 seconds and was seventh in the final with the Botswana relay in 3: 28.00 minutes . In 2018 she took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time , where she finished fourth over 400 meters in 51.17 s and won the bronze medal behind Jamaica and Nigeria in 3: 26.86 min. In August she won the silver medal behind Caster Semenya in 51.19 s at the African Championships in Asaba . She then took seventh place over 400 meters and second place in the relay competition at the Athletics Continental Cup in Ostrava in 52.47 s.

In 2019 she qualified again over 400 meters for the World Championships in Doha , where she was eliminated in the first round with 53.27 seconds .

In 2016 Botlogetswe became the Botswana champion in the 400-meter run and in 2019 over 200 meters.
