Christine "Kiki" Caron (born July 10, 1948 in Paris ) is a former French swimmer who was one of the best back swimmers in the world in the 1960s .

On June 14, 1964, Kiki Caron broke the world record in the 100-meter back distance in 1: 08.6 minutes. Before the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, however, the world record was improved to 1: 08.3 minutes by Virginia Duenkel from the USA. In the Olympic final, this record was broken by three female swimmers. The winner Cathy Ferguson in 1: 07.7 minutes before Caron in 1: 07.9 minutes and conceit in 1: 08,0 minutes.

In 1965 Caron won not only the French national championship, but also the national championships in the USA, Australia and Mexico, where she competed as a guest. At the European Championships in Utrecht in 1966 , she also won the short back track. In 1968 at the Olympic Games in Mexico City , she was the first woman to wear the tricolor at the opening ceremony. However, she could not qualify for the finals either on the short or on the 1968 Olympic long back course for the first time.

In total, she set eleven European records on the two back courses and won 14 national championship titles. In 1998 she was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .

She has a guest appearance in the film " The Swimming Pool " by Jacques Deray from 1969 with Alain Delon and Romy Schneider .
