Christoph Heinrich (singer)

Christoph Heinrich (* 1985 in Wittenberg ) is a German opera singer ( bass baritone ).

Life and artistic work

Christoph Heinrich received his first vocal training from Marianne Kaiser in Dessau . In 2005 he continued his training at the University of Music and Theater (HMT) in Leipzig with Roland Schubert , which he graduated with honors in February 2012. In addition, he completed a master class at the University of Music and Theater in Leipzig by 2015 and thus achieved the highest academic degree. There was also a series of master classes , including those of Rudolf Piernay, Peter Berne, Ileana Cotrubas and Franz Grundträger .

During his studies he sang important roles in his field, including Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro in a children's production at the Leipzig Opera and Colline in La Bohème in Dresden . In the ruins of the monastery in Bad Hersfeld , he gained festival experience at the opera festival there as Sparafucile ( Rigoletto ) and Herr Reich ( Die lustigen Frauen von Windsor ) as well as Dottore Grenvil ( Traviata ).

In 2010 he won the international singing competition of the Rheinsberg Castle Chamber Opera , where he sang the role of Masetto in Don Giovanni . In the same year he made his debut as Hindulfus / Drago in Schumann's Genoveva in the Tonhalle Düsseldorf . In 2011 he was awarded the Richard Wagner Scholarship.

In the 2010/2011 season Heinrich was a member of the International Opera Studio at Theater Bremen and since the 2012/2013 season a permanent member of the ensemble. There he sang major roles in his field, including Papageno in the Magic Flute , Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro , Oroveso in Norma , Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte , Landgrave Herrmann in Tannhäuser and Colline in La Bohème , Sparafucile in Rigoletto or the Doktor in Wozzeck , as well as Basilio ( Il barbiere di Siviglia ) and the father in Hansel and Gretel .

Christoph Heinrich has worked with renowned directors such as Sebastian Baumgarten , Paul-Georg Dittrich , Armin Petras , Laurent Chetouane, Benedikt von Peter , Vera Nemirova and Martin Schüler. In the 2016/17 season, Christoph Heinrich can be heard for the first time as father in Hansel and Gretel and Basilio at Barbiere di Siviglia . Numerous guest appearances have also taken him to various theaters in Germany. During the season, Christoph Heinrich will appear for the first time as Raimondo ( Lucia di Lammermoor ), Wassermann ( Rusalka ) and Nick Shadow ( The Rake's Progress ).

In addition to the opera repertoire, Christoph Heinrich deals with the interpretation of the international song culture. He worked with Ulrich Eisenlohr, Graham Johnson and Phillip Moll , among others . New approaches are particularly important to him. He sang and staged several major cycles in music history, such as Franz Schubert's Winterreise and Dmitri Shostakovich's Michelangelo Suite .

Christoph Heinrich is also a concert and oratorio singer and has performed a. a. in the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Gewandhaus Leipzig and the Bremer Glocke .
