Christoph Müllerleile

Christoph Müllerleile (born December 6, 1946 in Diez ) is a German journalist and local politician, former head of the city ​​council in Oberursel , initiator and co-founder of the German Fundraising Association and the German Donation Council, and former chairman of the Institute for European Partnerships and International Cooperation (IPZ).

Professional background

In 1966 Müllerleile graduated from high school in Oberursel . He then completed a journalistic apprenticeship at the Frankfurter Neue Presse before starting his studies in journalism and political science at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , which he completed in 1976 with a master's degree. In 1993 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. with a topic on political integration.

From 1976 to 1977 he was editor of the German crime department at Eduard Zimmermann in Mainz , from 1977 to 1981 deputy spokesman for the CDU in Bonn and from 1981 to 1985 representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for the English-speaking Caribbean based in Kingston .

Since 1985 he has been working in the field of public relations and fundraising for nonprofit organizations , including at the Federal Association of German Newspaper Publishers , the aid organization Church in Not / Ostiesterhilfe , the environmental foundation WWF Germany and the German Heart Foundation . In 1993 he was the initiator, co-founder and until 2002 chairman of the German Fundraising Association as well as co-founder of the German Donation Council From 2007 to 2011 he was a member of the "Standards for good, ethical fundraising practice" committee of the German Fundraising Association, since 2014 he is a member of the arbitration committee and chairman of the jury for the German Fundraising Prize.

In 1998 he founded the office for public relations and fundraising in Oberursel. He specialized in advising nonprofit organizations on fundraising. From 1993 to 2004 he was editor-in-chief of the specialist magazine “BSM-Newsletter”, later “Fundraising aktuell”, which was continued until 2008 as “Fundraising aktuell online”.

He has written numerous book and magazine articles on the topic of fundraising for charitable purposes. He had lectureships at the Institute for Journalism at the University of Mainz , at the Theological Faculty in Paderborn and at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences . Since 2007 he has been a lecturer in the master's distance learning course Management of Cultural and Nonprofit Organizations at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern .

Voluntary work

From 1972 to 1977, 1997 to 2000 and 2001 to 2003 Müllerleile was a city ​​councilor in Oberursel for the CDU. In 2003 he ran in vain for the mayoral election of Oberursel as an independent, but achieved 24.51% of the vote. From 2006 to 2018 he was city councilor for the Oberurseler Bürgergemeinschaft (OBG) and from 2011 to 2016 city councilor. From 2006 to 2016 he was a member of the district council for the Free Voting Community Hochtaunuskreis (FWG) and deputy chairman of the school and culture committee.

Müllerleile was, among other things, a board member of CARE Germany , chairman of the board of trustees of the German CARE Foundation and is a member of the aid organization's board of trustees. From 2010 to 2016 he was chairman of the Institute for European Partnerships and International Cooperation (IPZ) in Hürth .

At the local and regional level, Müllerleile was parish youth leader of the Catholic youth, chairman of the Stadtjugendring Oberursel and the Junge Union Oberursel. He is a co-founder and board member of the development associations of the Oberursel grammar school and the parish of Liebfrauen as well as the Oberurseler Initiative Opferdenkmal eV and was parish councilor in the Catholic parishes of St. Ursula and Liebfrauen in Oberursel. From 1999 to 2010 he was chairman of the association for the promotion of Oberursel city partnerships. Since 2006 he has been chairman of the friends' association of the Hans-Thoma-Schule (Oberursel).

At the state level, Müllerleile was a board member of the Junge Union Hessen and the district association of West Hesse. During his work abroad he was a board member of the Jamaican-German Society, the Rotary Club Kingston-Downtown , the Cherry Gardens Citizens Association, all in Kingston , and then the German-Jamaican Society in Bonn .
