Christopher Stanley
Christopher Stanley (born 1965 in Providence , Rhode Island ) is an American actor . He gained fame primarily through the recurring supporting role of Henry Francis in the award-winning US television series Mad Men (since 2009).
Life
Christopher Stanley was born in Providence, Rhode Island, where he grew up with four brothers. He completed his acting training at the Loft Studio founded in 1973 by Peggy Feury and Bill Traylor on the US East Coast . He also took lessons from the American actor Robert Lewis , co-founder of the Actors Studio , and the Panamanian theater director José Quintero .
In his early years as an actor, he appeared under the name Chris Stanley . He made his film debut in 1986 with an extra role in J. Lee Thompson's police film Murphy's Law . From 1990 until 1991 held the Stanley recurring role of the agent Nick Biaggi in the television series DEA from Fox . The crime series, striving for seriousness and authenticity, was about a New York special unit for the fight against drugs (Drug Enforcement Administration), which also operates across the borders of the United States. In Germany, the series was combined into two feature films ( Das Kartell des Todes , 1991; Das Kartell des Todes II , 1992) and marketed as VHS .
After DEA was hired , Stanley was mainly featured in guest roles in nearly two dozen series in the years that followed, including well-known formats such as Practice - The Lawyers , The X Files - The FBI's Scary Cases , Boston Legal , 24 and Without a Trace disappeared . He was often cast in the role of the police officer. He played one of the few recurring roles in the crime series New York Cops - NYPD Blue , in which he was seen as the racist officer Szymanski who messes with a black lieutenant ( James McDaniel ).
Stanley became known to a broad American television audience from 2009 through the American series Mad Men , which was set in the 1960s . From season three, Stanley took on the supporting role of Henry Francis , an influential political advisor on the staff of New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller , who falls in love with the main female character Betty Draper (played by January Jones ) and finally marries after her divorce. In 2010 Stanley was honored with a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the Mad Men acting company .
In addition to Mad Men , Stanley guest-starred as unscrupulous lawyer Mark Cordell on The Defenders (2010) series. In 2012 he took on a small supporting role in Ben Affleck's thriller Argo . In the same year he appeared in Zero Dark Thirty as Admiral William H. McRaven .
Christopher Stanley is married. He is enthusiastic about the Boston sports clubs Red Sox , Celtics and the New England Patriots . Boxing has been one of his hobbies since his youth.
