Ciro Fanelli (born October 2, 1964 in Lucera , Foggia Province , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Melfi-Rapolla-Venosa .

Life

Ciro Fanelli studied at the Pontifical Regional Seminar for Campania in Posillipo , and received on 15 September 1990, the sacrament of the priesthood for the Diocese of Lucera-Troia . After further studies he obtained a licentiate in moral theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University .

After his ordination he was the personal secretary of Bishops Raffaele Castielli and Francesco Zerrillo . He was spiritual at the episcopal seminary and diocesan assistant for Catholic Action . Bishop Domenico Cornacchia appointed him vicar general of the diocese of Lucera-Troia. After his appointment as Bishop of Molfetta-Ruvo-Giovinazzo-Terlizzi , he was diocesan administrator from January to December 2016 . The new bishop, Giuseppe Giuliano , reappointed him as vicar general. He was also pastor of the cathedral in Lucera.

On August 4, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Melfi-Rapolla-Venosa. The bishop of Lucera-Troia, Giuseppe Giuliano , donated him episcopal consecration on October 18 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Potenza-Muro Lucano-Marsico Nuovo , Salvatore Ligorio , and the Bishop of Molfetta-Ruvo-Giovinazzo-Terlizzi , Domenico Cornacchia . The inauguration in the diocese of Melfi-Rapolla-Venosa took place on November 4, 2017.
