Claus Durstewitz (* in Fritzlar / Hessen ) is a German - Austrian opera and concert singer ( lyric tenor )
Career
Claus Durstewitz was born as one of 7 children of the businessman Wigbert Durstewitz. His mother Ann Mari was a soprano and came from Sweden .
In the field of baroque music ( Buxtehude , Handel , Bach ) he was already successful at concerts from the age of 7 until his voice broke at the age of 13. He then studied the clarinet and achieved a commercial qualification . He turned back to singing and in April 2000 won the nationwide competition of the German Music Academy Hamburg "Stimmreff 2000" in the musical category .
With Katerina Beranova , with whom he is also married, he completed extensive private vocal training at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz and attended several master classes , such as the “ Austrian Master Classes (AMC) ”.
Durstewitz interprets almost all musical styles in his field in the classical and modern fields and is known in Germany and Austria. He sings at various events and is accompanied by orchestras such as the Hungarian Chamber Philharmonic , the Johann Strauss Orchestra Frankfurt , the Thuringia Philharmonic Gotha-Eisenach , the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg and the hr big band .
Together with his wife, he has been singing gala concerts, New Year's concerts and song recitals since 2010 and appears with her at church events and on television.
From 2012 to 2017 he was engaged at the Musiktheater Linz . In 2012 he took part in the ORF broadcast “ Die große Chance ” and took first place in the first semi-finals .
Together with his wife, he was a guest in the “Golden Hall” of the Wiener Musikverein in October 2013 , where he could be heard as a soloist in Carl Orff's “ Carmina Burana ”.
In 2015 Durstewitz sang the role of the Phantom in the original version of “ The Phantom of the Opera ” by Andrew Lloyd Webber in Bad Leonfelden .
In 2018 he and his wife took part in the world premiere of Michael Stenov's Easter Oratorio in the parish church of St. Peter in Linz / Spallerhof.
Claus Durstewitz's son, Christian Durstewitz , is also a singer. Durstewitz lives with his family in Linz.
