Claus Obalski (born December 11, 1954 in Wolfratshausen ) is a German actor .

Life

After graduating from high school, the son of dialect poet Elisabeth Obalski-Hüfner studied German, phonetics and theater studies at the University of Munich for several semesters . Since his school days, he has worked in advertising and sex films. He took private acting lessons from Margot Behse and Margret Daniels.

In 1976 he became known to the television audience as a candidate for the ZDF quiz show Der Große Preis with Wim Thoelke , when the drama student demonstrated his knowledge of Marilyn Monroe in three appearances . In 1977 he went on tour through Germany with the Tegernsee Volkstheater . In 1978/79 he played Bob in a performance of Frank Wedekind's Lulu with Cornelia Froboess at the Münchner Kammerspiele . At the Heppenheim Festival in 1981 he appeared as Cherubin in The Great Day or Figaro's Wedding , and in 1991 as Cleánthe in “The Miser”. He then made guest appearances on various other stages.

In 1995/1996 he played 120 sold out performances of “Die wilde Auguste” in the Kleine Komödie am Max II in Munich alongside Erni Singerl . At the European Festival Weeks in Passau in 2006 he appeared as Mozart in Pushkin's “Mozart and Salieri”. Tours with Karl Kraus' “The Last Days of Mankind” (1994–2008) led him a. a. at the invitation of the Goethe-Institut in the midwestern United States. In 2010/2011 he went on tour in Germany as Boandlkramer in “Die G'schicht vom Brandner Kaspar” with the Tegernseer Volkstheater , two years later with another tour a. a. in the Pfalzbau in Ludwigshafen. In 2011/2012 he played Pasolini in the musical "Die Grattler-Oper" in Munich and the surrounding area. With the mezzo-soprano Franziska Rabl he developed several programs such as “Duett der Diven”, “So In Love” (Cole Porter) and “It must be something wonderful - The Golden Twenties”.

In 2018 he embodied the father of the groom in the traditional "suburban wedding in 1905" and appeared as a singer in the "Broken Glass District Revue"

Since 1978 Obalski played in many television productions. He was the main actor in Rainer Erler's advertising satire The Spot or Almost a Career . He also played Franz Beckenbauer at the Oktoberfest tapping and Ulla Schmidt at the Singspiel on the Nockherberg from 2002 to 2006 . He is co-owner of the Obalski & Astor publishing house, where his book Tactlessness was published. He reads works by Ludwig Thoma on audio CDs and at poetry readings . He emerged in 2011 as the writer of broadcast features about Cole Porter and Marilyn Monroe . As a speaker, he was the protagonist in numerous radio plays on Südwestrundfunk "And then I shot", directed by Bernd Lau , and on Bayerischer Rundfunk , including in the series "Wasser für Bayern" by Bernd Schroeder .

Since September 2015 he has been with Ralf Schönberger's event company "crossing mind", which, among others , carries out various formats for Jochen Schweizer , such as The Knoff-Hoff Show and the "Hüttenkrimi" in Germany, mainly in southern Germany.
