Clemens Geissler
Clemens Geißler (born May 11, 1931 in Heydekrug , East Prussia ) is a German development researcher. From 1973 to 1996 he was head of the Institute for Development Planning and Structural Research GmbH (until 1981: Institute for Regional Educational Planning - Location Research Working Group) at the University of Hanover . Geißler has been a member of research committees and bodies at federal and state level since 1965.
Career
From 1937 to 1948 he attended elementary school in Labiau / East Prussia and secondary schools in Labiau , Tilsit and Paderborn . 1948–1951 he completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer with attendance at the Paderborn vocational school , journeyman's examination and work as a bricklayer.
From 1951 to 1954, Geissler studied at the State Engineering School for Construction , Münster / Westf .; with engineering examination and university entrance qualification . 1954–1955 he worked in an architecture office for youth, educational and residential buildings in Münster / Westf. 1955–1962 followed a study at the Technical University of Hanover with support from the German National Academic Foundation and diploma examination ( architecture / urban planning ).
From 1962 to 1965 Geissler worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Urban Development , Housing and Regional Planning , Technical University of Hanover. In 1965 he received his doctorate from the Technical University of Hanover; He received an award for the dissertation "University locations - University visits" from the Foundation of the German Communities and Community Associations for the Promotion of Local Science.
From 1965 to 1973 he was a member of the management of the location research work group at the Technical University of Hanover. In 1967 the habilitation followed at the Technical University of Hanover. In 1971 Geißler was Apl. Professor at the Technical University of Hanover. From 1973 to 1996 he was head of the Institute for Development Planning and Structural Research GmbH (until 1981: Institute for Regional Educational Planning - Location Research Working Group) at the University of Hanover. In 1984 he was visiting professor in Beijing ( People's Republic of China ).
Geissler is married and has three daughters.
Activities in academies
Geißler has been a member of the German Academy for Urban Development and Regional Planning since 1969 and was a member of the Presidium of the German Academy for Urban Development and Regional Planning from 1977 to 1983 as chairman of the Lower Saxony-Bremen regional group.
In 1970 Geißler was a corresponding member and from 1982 a full member of the Academy for Spatial Research and Regional Planning . From 1971 to 1975 he was chairman of the regional educational planning working group and from 1989 to 1995 chairman of the working group on settlement structure and population development .
Activities in committees
Since 1965 he has been involved in advisory committees, particularly in the areas of social infrastructure and regional development, education and science, urban planning and housing, generations and families, and the church. These bodies work on different levels.
Federal and transnational level
- 1979 - 2001: Member of the Scientific Advisory Board for Family Issues at the Federal Minister for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth, Chairman from 1998 to 2001
- 1983 - 1985 : Member of the Expert Commission for the 4th Federal Government Report on the Situation of Families in the Federal Republic of Germany
- 1991 - 1993: Member of the Expert Commission for the 5th Federal Government Report on the Situation of the Family in a United Germany
- 1991 - 1993: Member of the working group of the Science Council for the reorganization of distance learning in Germany
- 1995 - 1997: Member and chairman of the expert commission for the second report of the federal government on the situation of the older generation in the Federal Republic of Germany
- 1996 - 1997: Member of the jury appointed by the Federal Ministry for Family , Seniors, Women and Youth for the federal competition "Child and Family Friendly Community"

- 1971 - 1973: Member and chairman of the study commission appointed by the minister of education for the technical university sector in Schleswig-Holstein
