The Cordevole ( Ladin : Cordoul ) is a river in the Dolomites in northern Italy . With a length of 70 kilometers and a catchment area of around 868 km², it is the most important right tributary of the Piave .
course
The Cordevole rises near the Pordoi Pass on the northern flank of the Padon ridge and flows through the province of Belluno in the north of the Veneto region . Its upper course is the Fodom Dolomite valley . At Caprile , the waters of the Fiorentina and Pettorina torrents fed by the Marmolata glacier come into play. The course of the river leads east for the first few kilometers and then largely south. At the village of Alleghe, the river feeds the Lago d'Alleghe, which was created by a landslide in 1771 . After flowing through the Valle Agordina , the Cordevole flows into the Piave in the municipality of Sedico, southwest of Belluno .
