Cosby is a German pop band from Munich .

history

The four band members Marie Kobylka, Chris Werner, Kilian Reischl and Robin Karow have been making music together since 2009. From the beginning they composed and wrote texts themselves and produced their music and videos under their own direction in their studio in Unterföhring near Munich. In these first years there were neither publications nor major appearances. The band grew together during this time and developed their own style, in which synthesizers also play an important role.

After the band was founded in 2013 under the name "Cosby", they went public in 2014, signed a contract with Warner / Chappell Music and founded their own label Just Push Play . One of the first published titles served as background music for a mexx TV commercial . The first EP was followed by numerous appearances as well as radio and TV live sessions. In 2015 Cosby took part in the 18th season of the music magazine Startrampe . The Bayerische Rundfunk dedicated the band several half-hour television programs and television of the Saarland Radio aired a 30-minute concert performance. There were numerous presentations and interviews with Cosby on the radio , for example on Radio Eins and on NDR .

After her nomination for the German music author award of GEMA is the band member of the Academy of German music authors . She won the egoFM listener award and was nominated for the New Music Award . So far Cosby has given concerts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and made guest appearances in London.

In August 2015, the band released their first studio album As Fast As We Can . There are music videos produced in-house for several songs . In the fall of 2015, Cosby was a support band with the American Mikky Ekko .

The song Follow the Leader was the theme song of the 13th season of Big Brother (2020).

style

Cosby wrote all texts in English from the start . Stylistically, the band is difficult to assign to a certain category: electro-pop is just as true as songwriting pop, synth-soul or indie pop. The portfolio includes ballads as well as light, danceable tracks. Despite their very different characteristics, Cosby's songs have a high recognition value due to the special style of the band and the multi-faceted voice of their singer.
