Craig Robert Watson (born June 2, 1971 in Invercargill ) is a retired New Zealand triathlete and Olympian (2000).

Career

Craig Watson has been practicing triathlon since 1990. At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, he finished 16th.

His nickname is "Wattie". He competed five times in triathlon world championships on the Olympic short distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) and achieved his best placement with third place in 2001.

After the ITU World Triathlon Championship in December 2003, in which he finished sixth, Craig Watson ended his career as a professional triathlon and has since started as an amateur in Ironman long distance races.

He lives with his wife, the French triathlete Hélène Salomon-Watson (winner of Ironman France 2003), and their two daughters in Pau, France . Together with his wife, he now markets the sports fashion label “Kiwami”.
