Cumayeri is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Düzce . The city is located about 18 kilometers west of the provincial capital Düzce and is home to about 65 percent of the district's population.
The district is located in the west of the province. It is bordered by Akçakoca County in the north, Çilimli in the east, Gümüşova in the south and Sakarya Province in the west . Ataturk Caddesi connects Cumayeri with the D100 trunk road from Edirne via Istanbul to Erzurum and the Iranian border, which passes in the south outside the district. The river Melen Çayı crosses the district, east of the district town, from south to north and flows further into the Black Sea .
The district was founded in 1987 and, in addition to the administrative center ( Merkez ), also includes 21 villages ( Köy ) with an average population of 246 inhabitants, which is the lowest value in the province. Avlayan is the most populous village with 578 inhabitants.
