Yığılca is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Düzce . The place is located about 25 kilometers northeast of the provincial capital Düzce and is home to 20.5 percent of the district's population .
The district is in the east of the province. It is bordered by the Kaynaşlı County in the southwest , the Central County in the west, Akçakoca in the northwest, the Zonguldak Province in the north and the Bolu Province in the southeast . From Yığılca a road leads west to the provincial capital and one north to the Black Sea at Alaplı . The district town lies on the Küçük Melen Çayı river between the Akçakoca Dağları mountain ranges in the north and the Bolu Dağları in the south. In the west, the river to the Hasanlar Barajı reservoir is dammed.
The district was created in 1954 and, in addition to the administrative center ( Merkez ), also consists of 39 villages ( Köy , plural: Köyler ) with an average of 335 inhabitants. Aksaklar is the largest of these with 987 inhabitants.
