Desiré Letort

Désiré Letort (born January 29, 1943 in Bourseul , † September 9, 2012 in Saint-Malo ) was a French cyclist .

Désiré Letort was a professional cyclist from 1965 to 1973. The greatest success of his career was fourth place in the overall ranking of the Tour de France in 1967 , where he was also recognized as the most combative driver. When it was held in 1969 , he wore the yellow jersey for one day and came ninth overall. In total, he started the tour eight times.

In 1963 and 1964 Letort was French champion in team pursuit on the track and in 1963 French military champion in single pursuit . In 1966 he won Paris-Camembert and in 1971 the Tour du Haut-Var . In 1967 he won the French road racing championship, but was subsequently disqualified for doping . The Vuelta a España 1972 he finished ninth in the overall standings.
