Dębno (colloquially also Dębno Podhalańskie ) is a village with about 700 inhabitants in the Polish Lesser Poland Voivodeship in the Nowotarski district, in the Nowy Targ municipality .
geography
The village is located in the Arwa-Neumarkt basin ( Kotlina Orawsko-Nowotarska ), on the Dunajec , actually in the fork of the Dunajec and Białka rivers, in the Nowotarski Valley, at an altitude of about 535 meters above sea level .
history
The place with a church already existed in 1325. Ten years later it received Magdeburg law . The founder was Urban von Grywałd . In 1630 the parish was dissolved.
During the first partition of Poland in 1772 the village became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Dębno came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .
From 1975 to 1998 Łopuszna was part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship .
Attractions
Dębno is home to the famous Archangel Michael Church , a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to the 15th century.
