Daisbach is a church village in the Hessian Rheingau-Taunus district and part of Aarbergen . With around 500 inhabitants, it is its smallest district.

Geographical location

Daisbach is located in the Taunus (western Hintertaunus ) on the Aubach. It originated on the northern bank of the Aubach, which meanders through the Scheidertal valley .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 879 in a deed of ownership of the St. Severus monastery in Gemünden in the Westerwald . Its settlement originated above the Aubach. Farms were only added later in the valley. Daisbach originally belonged to the Hubengericht in neighboring Kettenbach and the parish there.

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the previously independent communities of Daisbach, Hausen via Aar, Kettenbach, Michelbach, Panrod and Rückershausen voluntarily merged on December 31, 1970 to form the new community of Aarbergen. For each district, the main statute established a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor in accordance with the Hessian municipal code.

religion

Since the Reformation the place has had a special historical position. In the midst of the Protestant region, Daisbach still forms a Catholic diaspora today. In 1677 the Münster treasurer Baron von Galen acquired the rule in Daisbach. From 1690 onwards , the Franciscans of the Limburg Monastery again celebrated Catholic services in an office building that he set up . In 1777 the village came under the rule of the Nassau Duke Karl Wilhelm von Nassau-Usingen together with Kettenbach . He was ordered to preserve the religious independence of the village. Since then Daisbach has been the seat of a parish.

Mining

From the middle of the 19th century, the place was briefly the location of a silver mine. In 1890 the mining was closed again because of insufficient profitability.

Attractions

The Catholic parish church of St. Joseph was built below the village around 1670 . Today it is the only half-timbered Catholic church in Hesse.
