Wu Dajing ( Chinese  武大靖 , Pinyin Wǔ Dàjìng ; born July 24, 1994 in Heilongjiang ) is a Chinese short tracker .

Career

Wu made his first international appearance in January 2010 at the Junior World Championships in Taipei . There he won bronze over 500 m. In the following year he won the bronze medal in the all- around and the silver medal over 500 m at the Junior World Championships in Courmayeur . He ran his first World Cup race in Nagoya in the 2011/12 season . He finished 24th over 1000 m and 11th over 500 m. With the relay he got his first World Cup victory. At the following World Cup in Shanghai , he won again with the relay. At the beginning of the following season he won third places with the relay in Nagoya and over 500 m in Shanghai. At the World Cup in Sochi he finished second and the next day first over 500 m and thus won his first individual victory in the World Cup. With the season he got there third place. At the end of the season he finished second again at the World Cup in Dresden over 500 m and thus achieved second place in the overall World Cup over 500 m. His best results at the 2013 World Championships in Debrecen were seventh place over 500 m and fifth place with the relay. In the 2013/14 season he won over 1000 m at the World Cup in Seoul . He finished second there over 500 m and took third place at the World Cup in Kolomna over 500 m. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, he won the bronze medal with the relay and the silver medal over 500 m. He also took fourth place over 1000 m. In March 2014 he won the gold medal over 500 m at the World Championships in Montreal . He finished the season in fourth place in the overall World Cup over 500 m and in the overall World Cup over 1000 m.

After finishing second in the relay and third at the World Cup in Salt Lake City over 500 m at the beginning of the following season, Wu won the 500 m in Montreal and the 1000 m in Seoul . Also in Seoul and Dresden he was third with the relay. At the last World Cup station in Erzurum he won the relay and finished second over 500 m. He finished the World Cup season in sixth place in the overall World Cup over 1000 m and in second place in the overall World Cup over 500 m. At the 2015 World Championships in Moscow , he won the bronze medal in the all-around event and over 3000 m and the gold medal over 500 m and relay. In the 2015/16 season he won two World Cup victories over 500 m and thus achieved fourth place in the overall World Cup over 500 m. With the season he won in Montreal and took third place in Toronto . At the season highlight of the 2016 World Championships in Seoul, he won the bronze medal in the 1000 m, the silver medal in the 500 m and the gold medal with the relay. After finishing second over 500 m in Calgary at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, he won three times over 500 m and twice with the relay and thus won the World Cup over 500 m. In February 2017 he won the silver medal over 1500 m and the gold medal over 500 m and with the relay at the Winter Asian Games in Sapporo . At the following world championships in Rotterdam he won over 500 m and the silver medal with the relay. At the beginning of the 2017/18 season he finished second in Budapest and third in the relay in Dordrecht . This was followed by victories in Shanghai over 500 m and 1000 m and in Seoul over 500 m. As in the previous year, he won the World Cup over 500 m and also finished third in the World Cup over 1000 m. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he won the gold medal over 500 m in a new world record time. With the relay he took the silver medal over 5000 m behind Hungary.

In the 2018/19 season, Wu achieved second place in the 500 m World Cup with three wins. He also won the mixed relay in Calgary and took second place with the relay in Salt Lake City . At the 2019 World Championships in Sofia , he won the silver medal in the relay and over 500 m. After first place in the 500 m and second place in the mixed relay in Salt Lake City at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, he won the relay in Nagoya and finished second in the 500 m in Shanghai . At the end of the season he was third in the relay and first in the mixed relay in Dordrecht and thus achieved second place in the 500 m World Cup.
