Dalchau is a district of the city of Arneburg in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark Dalchau, a village with a church, is four kilometers north of Arneburg on the west bank of the Elbe on the edge of the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve .

history

The place was first mentioned as Dalekowe in 1170 when the Havelberg Cathedral was inaugurated . Other mentions are 1466 dalchowe and 1540 dalcho . 1486 appears the Vehre to Dalchou with two Fährknechten in a prescription for a jointure . In 1687 it was called Dalchow , in 1725 it was already Dalchau . The village of Dalchau was described in 1842 as a church village with a manor suitable for the state parliament in the district of Osterburg .

Agriculture

During the land reform in 1945, the following were determined: four properties under 100 hectares had a total of 69 hectares, a church property had 0.8 hectares, one property with 726 hectares was administered and cultivated by the SMAD , according to another information 719 hectares, of which 276 hectares went to the Land fund. A company from the manors Dalchau and Niedergörne with 767.3 hectares was expropriated. In 1948, 47 full settlers each over 5 hectares and 13 small settlers each under 5 hectares received from the land reform. In 1953 the first type III agricultural production cooperative, the LPG "Friedenswacht", was established.

Origin of the place name

Derived from dalchowe , the Slavic stem dal contains the identical personal name. The ending kowe , chowe means home . The name can also be traced back to the Slavic “dalja” (width).

Incorporations

On September 30, 1928, the Dalchau manor district was merged with the Dalchau rural community. On 25 July 1952, the community was Dalchau the district Osterburg in the district Osterburg reclassifies. On January 1, 1969, the Dalchau community was incorporated into the Altenzaun community . On April 17, 1974, the district of Dalchau was assigned to the city of Arneburg and thus to the Stendal district .

The Protestant church Dalchau / Elbe originally belonged to the parish Niedergörne and now belongs to the parish area Arneburg the church district Stendal in Propst Sprengel Stendal Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

  • The current chapel (village church) was built in 1851. It is a simple brick building. The older chapel on the estate no longer exists. It was still used as a wash house and utility room at the beginning of the 20th century, and in 2001 as an apartment.
  • The local cemetery was used until 1965.
