Damion Hahn

Damion Hahn (born April 12, 1980 in Toms River, New Jersey ) is an American wrestler .

Career

Damion Hahn started wrestling at the age of 7. At Lakewood High School, New Jersey, he was trained to be a good freestyle wrestler. He later became a member of the Central Jersey Wrestling Club and trained there by Miles Hahn. He was runner-up in 1996 during his high school years and three consecutive champions of New Jersey from 1997 to 1999.

In 1997 to 2000 and 2002 he won the USA Junior Middleweight Championship. In 2000 he was also the student master of the USA (AAU). In 1999 he was used at the Junior World Championships in Sydney . He finished there in the middleweight division behind Wadim Lalijew from Russia , Taras Danko from Ukraine a . Park See-hoon from South Korea took 4th place. At the Junior World Championship in 2000 in Nantes , he cut not quite as good, for he reached there only the 8th Place.

From 2001 Damion Hahn attended the University of Minnesota and was trained there by J. Robinson. At the so-called NCAA Championships he reached fifth place in 2001 and 2002, but was the winner of this championship in 2003 and 2004. In 2002 he just missed a medal at the Universities World Championships in Edmonton in the middleweight division when he landed in the ungrateful 4th place.

In 2004 Damion Hahn started for the first time in the USA Senior Championship and came third in the light heavyweight division behind Thomas Rowlands and Dean Morrison. In the following years he started at some championships in the USA and tried to qualify in the various eliminations for the World Championships and the Olympic Games. But he could not win a championship title and failed with second places in the World Cup trials in 2006 and in the 2008 Olympic trials in the light heavyweight division, each to Daniel Cormier .

In 2008 he still achieved the greatest international success of his career when he finished second at the Pan American Championships in Colorado Springs in the light heavyweight division behind the Cuban Michel Batista.
