Dan Bjornlie (born October 17, 1977 in Eagan , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Vienna Capitals in the Austrian ice hockey league .
Career
Dan Bjornlie began his career as an ice hockey player in the team of the University of Wisconsin , for which he was active parallel to his studies from 1996 to 2000 in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . During this period he won the 1998 championship of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association with his university team . From 2000 to 2002 the defender played in his first station in professional ice hockey for the Quad City Mallards in the United Hockey League . In the 2001/02 season he also played two games for the Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League .
In the summer of 2002 Bjornlie moved to Europe, where he played for SC Riessersee in the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey league in the following year and a half , before moving to the Kölner Haien in the German ice hockey league during the 2003/04 season. For the Haie he scored a total of 16 points scorer in 66 games before his contract was not renewed in 2005. The US-American then played for the German second division club SC Bietigheim-Bissingen for two years . The left-handed shooter has been active for the Vienna Capitals from the Austrian ice hockey league since the 2007/08 season . For the capital club he scored 55 scorer points in the main round in the 2008/09 season , making him the top scorer of all defenders in the league.
