Dana Bergrath (born April 24, 1994 in Aachen , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German athlete who specializes in javelin throwing.

career path

Bergrath studies linguistics . First she was at the University of Bonn , then at the University of Cologne .

Athletic career

Inspired by her father, a former sprinter , Dana Bergrath came to athletics at elementary school age, with throwing the ball being her strongest discipline. At the DJK Rasensport Aachen-Brand she picked up a spear for the first time, and spurred on by the great success of Leverkusen Steffi Nerius , she stayed with this discipline.

In 2009, Dana Bergrath was a W15 student with 44.80 m, the record holder for the North Rhine.

In 2010 Bergrath came 10th at the German U18 indoor championships in Halle (Saale) .

In 2011 she took 5th place at the German U18 winter throwing championships in Leverkusen and bronze at the German U18 championships in Jena .

In 2012 Bergrath became German U20 winter throwing runner-up in Sindelfingen .

In 2013 she won 4th place at the German U20 Championships in Rostock .

In 2014 Bergrath reached 5th place at the German University Championships in Kassel and the German U23 Championships in Wesel . At the German Championships in Ulm she came in 10th place.

In 2015 she took 3rd place in the German U23 championships in Wetzlar .

In 2016 Bergrath was able to become German university runner-up in Paderborn and took 7th place at the German championships in Kassel . In Wattenscheid she was German U23 runner-up .

In 2017, Bergrath in Kassel was again German university vice- champion and reached 11th place at the German championships in Erfurt .

In 2018, at the javelin meeting in Offenburg with 60.06 m , she fulfilled the standard of 60.00 m for the European Championships in Berlin at the beginning of June and confirmed her form five weeks later in Lucerne at the top athletics Lucerne with a personal best of 60.60 m. The German Championships in Nuremberg concluded Bergrath from 5th place. At the European Championships Bergrath retired in the qualification.

Bergrath has been part of the supplementary squad of the German Athletics Association (DLV) since the competitive sports reform 2017/18 and was previously in the B-squad of the DLV.

Club affiliations

Dana Bergrath has been with TSV Bayer Leverkusen since autumn 2010 and was previously with DJK Rasensport Aachen-Brand .
