Dana Guth (born July 26, 1970 in Mehrow , Bernau district ) is a German politician ( AfD ). In the state elections in Lower Saxony in 2017 , she ran as the top candidate of her party and has since been chairman of the AfD parliamentary group in the Lower Saxony state parliament . She has been the state chairwoman of the AfD Lower Saxony since April 7, 2018 .

Life

After graduating from high school , Guth began studying law at the University of Göttingen , which she broke off after two years. She completed a commercial apprenticeship and passed the trainer aptitude test. She has been working as an independent real estate and insurance broker since 1996 .

Guth is married, lives in Herzberg am Harz and has two grown children.

Political career

Guth joined the alternative for Germany in 2015 and was elected district chairwoman Göttingen-Osterode in June 2016. In March 2017 Guth ran unsuccessfully against Armin-Paul Hampel , whose inner-party critic she was considered, for the chairmanship of the AfD Lower Saxony. In August 2017 Guth was able to win a vote for the AfD top candidate for the Lower Saxony state election against Maik Schmitz , which was seen as Hampel's defeat in the internal party power struggle. After her entry into the state parliament, her parliamentary group elected her as group chairman.

Dana Guth's exclusion from the AfD parliamentary group of the Göttingen district assembly at the end of September 2017, the Göttingen administrative court declared ineffective on October 9, 2017, as the parliamentary group had not complied with the deadlines provided for in the rules of procedure. On November 8, 2017, Guth was ruled out again.

After she had prevailed against her competitor Hampel after long internal party disputes, she became state chairman of the Lower Saxony AfD in April 2018.

Guth ran for the position of second national spokesman at the AfD 2019 party conference in Braunschweig and was defeated. In her application speech, she described the hanging of the sign for the VW hall as a " provincial farce ".

Political positions

Educational policy

According to Guth, children with learning difficulties only get the best support in the special school system , since a teacher in a normal class with 25 to 30 students cannot do this. Dana Guth is in favor of abolishing English lessons in primary schools , as it is a reality that not all primary school students speak German properly.

Economic policy

In the dispute over the top spot on the AfD state list on the occasion of the state elections in Lower Saxony in 2017 , Dana Guth emphasized that agriculture had primarily come into her political focus, because "we need [there] less EU and less bureaucracy."

For Guth, most jobs in Lower Saxony depend on the Volkswagen plant , so it urgently needs to be promoted and maintained. With regard to the emissions scandal at the Volkswagen factory, she explains that under no circumstances should "any drive technology" be condemned.

Structural and energy policy

Local traffic in structurally weak areas of Lower Saxony must be improved.

She thinks nothing of wind farms and biogas plants . The consequence of the nuclear phase-out is that electricity has become much more expensive and “people [would] be cut off from the energy supply because they cannot pay for it”. She continues to rely on nuclear energy, coal and gas.

Migrants

Dana Guth has nothing against the fact that more police officers are employed in Lower Saxony, but one also has to look at the “causes”, because crime would “shift towards refugees, migrants and the like”. These perpetrators would have to be deported.
