Dana Elena Cojocea (formerly Dana Plotogea ; born September 30, 1981 in Brașov , Brașov County ) is a Romanian biathlete .

Dana Cojocea lives in Bran and starts for SC Dinamo Brașov . The teacher has been practicing biathlon since 1994 and is trained by Gheorghe Gârniță . Since 1998 she has been part of the Romanian national team. Cojocea made her international debut without any major success in 1999 at the Junior World Championships in Pokljuka . At the beginning of the 1999/2000 season, she made her debut in Hochfilzen in the Biathlon World Cup . Here she was 81st in the individual. It was not until the 2001 European Junior Championships in Haute-Maurienne that she first attracted attention with fourth places in the individual and the relay, and sixth place in the sprint. Shortly afterwards she won the silver medal at the Junior World Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk behind Tatiana Moissejewa . Her sporting highlight of the following season 2001/02 was participation in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City . The best place here, however, was only a 55th place in the sprint, the pursuit had to end prematurely because it was lapped.

The following season brought a good World Cup result for the first time. With the Romanian mixed relay, Cojocea finished fifth in Ruhpolding . In 2005 she achieved her best individual result to date in Turin in an individual race in which she was 24th. Already in the year before the Romanian started the first time at a World Cup. The best result in Oberhof was a 39th place in the pursuit. In 2007 in Antholz she achieved her best result with a 25th place. The 2008 World Championships in Östersund went less well , where 62nd place was the best result in the sprint. I especially went, however, the Biathlon World Championships 2009 of Pyeongchang . In South Korea Cojocea ran in singles on the 50th place and was eighth in the relay. In the sprint, she reached her best international result in 16th, and finished the pursuit in 35th. Dana Cojocea took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics. Her best result was 49th place in the sprint. In April 2010 she won the pursuit at the Romanian Biathlon National Championships in Piatra Arsă before Éva Tófalvi .
