The first season of Dancing Stars began on September 23, 2005 and was broadcast live on ORF one . It was ended by the final on November 11, 2005. Marika Lichter won the first season . Andy Kainz danced with her . The moderators were Mirjam Weichselbraun and Alfons Haider .

Course of competition

In the first season, eight couples competed against each other. Each star was given a professional dancer by the hand. On the first season took Mat Schuh , Arabella gravel farmer , Peter Rapp , Patricia Kaiser , Stefano Bernardin , Barbara Rett , Toni Polster and Marika Lichter part. Thomas Schäfer-Elmayer , Nicole Burns-Hansen , Dagmar Koller and Hannes Nedbal served as the jury . They were allowed to rate each dance with up to 10 points. The maximum score of 40 points were Toni Polster and Michaela Heintzinger in the finals for their dance to an Austro-Pop - Medley . The jury evaluation was supplemented by a spectator voting. Both procedures have the same weighting.

In the first episode nobody had to leave the program, followed by seven programs in which a couple had to leave the program. The final took place in the eighth show. Toni Polster and Michaela Heintzinger competed against Marika Lichter and Andy Kainz . Marika Lichter was able to prevail. It won both the jury and the audience voting.

The winners received 40,000 euros raised by the Buena Vista film company . The winners donated the amount to a dance project for abused children in Radkersburg .

    The show ran very successfully on the Austrian broadcaster ORF. The episodes from September 23 to November 4 were seen by a total of 3.8 million Austrians. This corresponded to an audience rate of 56%. Even before the finale, it was clear that Dancing Stars would be extended to a second season .
