Daniel Patrick Graewe (born December 11, 1978 in Unna ) is a German lawyer . He is Professor of Business Law and Director of the Institute for Applied Business Law at the Nordakademie .

Career

Graewe grew up in Unna and graduated from the Ernst-Barlach-Gymnasium. He then began a double degree in law and political science at the University of Freiburg . This was followed by a semester abroad in Lausanne and a change to the University of Frankfurt am Main . In Hesse he also passed the first state examination in law. Graewe then began his legal clerkship in Hamburg, where he also completed his political studies at the University of Hamburg with a degree in political science . During her legal clerkship, Graewe u. a. at the Hamburg Regional Court , the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency and the Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer law firm . Further positions took him to the Federation of German Industry in Washington, DC and to the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer . In 2009 he passed the second state examination in law in Hamburg. In the same year, he was also admitted to the bar . Graewe then did her doctorate on a topic in the field of corporate governance with Barbara Dauner-Lieb at the University of Cologne .

Professional Activities

After completing his legal dissertation, he worked for several years as a lawyer at White & Case , CMS Hasche Sigle and Eversheds Sutherland in Hamburg, London and Munich. At the same time, he completed the specialist lawyer course in tax law. In 2016 he accepted a professorship for commercial law at the Nordakademie , where he was also appointed head of the master's degree in commercial law (LL.M.). Graewe is also Director of the Institute for Applied Business Law, Faculty Member of the Institute for Mergers, Acquisitions and Alliances and Senior Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley . He is also the technical director of a specialist lawyer course in commercial and corporate law. His research focuses on civil law, commercial and corporate law including M&A , labor law and the law of non-profit organizations . Graewe is also responsible for one of the M&A research databases in German-speaking countries, which the Nordakademie has taken over from the University of St. Gallen .

Graewe is a member of the Board of Trustees of Diakonie Alten Eichen, a member of the board of trustees of the Ernst Ludwig Kirchner Society. and board member of the Nordakademie-Stiftung . He also moderates the TV programs "North German Business Talks" and "Science in Dialog" on Hamburg 1 .

The Handelsblatt lists Graewe as a particularly recommended corporate lawyer.
