Daniel von Schoeler

August Wilhelm Karl Daniel Alexander von Schoeler (born March 13, 1800 in Wesel , † June 8, 1879 in Unkel ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Daniel was a son of the later Prussian general of the infantry Moritz von Schoeler (1771–1855) and his wife Eleanore, née Burggräfin and Countess zu Dohna-Lauck (1777–1855). His brother Friedrich Ludwig made it to lieutenant general, Alexander to general of the infantry in the Prussian army .

Military career

Schoeler attended the Friedrich-Werdersche Gymnasium in Berlin in 1813/15 and joined the 4th Cuirassier Regiment of the Prussian Army in 1816 as a cuirassier . Here he was appointed and on December 14, 1817 to June 22, 1818 Portepeefähnrich second lieutenant promoted. For further training, Schoeler was assigned to the teaching squadron for one year from October 1, 1820 . Continuing his military career Schoelerpark was appointed commanding officer on 13 January 1853, initially in this position on March 22, 1853 to lieutenant colonel , and on 15 October 1856 Colonel promoted. As such, he was placed à la suite of the regiment on May 29, 1858 and appointed commander of the 16th Cavalry Brigade . Shortly thereafter, on May 31, 1859, he was promoted to major general . For his many years of service, Schoeler received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves, on May 25, 1860 On January 29, 1863, Scholer was put up for disposal with the character of Lieutenant General with a pension .

family

Schoeler married on February 6, 1832 in Wichelshof with Sophie von Diepenbroik (1811-1840). After her death, he married Helene von Bornstedt (1825–1898) on June 30, 1846 . She was the daughter of the Prussian chief forester Friedrich Wilhelm Johann von Bornstedt and the Leopoldine Henriette Wilhelmine Charlotte Paetsch. The marriages gave birth to a total of twelve children, including:
