Darci José Nicioli CSsR (born May 1, 1959 in Jacutinga , Minas Gerais , Brazil ) is a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Diamantina .

Life

Darci José Nicioli entered the Redemptorist Minor Seminary ( Seminário Redentorista Santo Afonso ) in Aparecida in 1971 . He joined the Redemptorist Order and studied philosophy and theology at the Catholic University in Campinas (SP) and at the Instituto Teológico São Paulo (ITESP). The Bishop of Corumbá , Pedro Fré CsSR , ordained him a priest on March 8, 1986 . From 1986 to 1989 he studied at the Pontifical Athenaeum Sant'Anselmo in Rome and obtained a licentiate in theology. After he had worked as a pastor from 1989 to 2009 and had been entrusted with various tasks for his order, he led the pilgrimage pastoral care in Aparecida, the largest pilgrimage site in Brazil, since 2009.

On November 14, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . as titular bishop of Ficus and auxiliary bishop in Aparecida . The Archbishop of Aparecida, Cardinal Raymundo Damasceno Assis , donated him episcopal ordination on February 3, 2013 ; Co- consecrators were Pedro Fré CsSR, Former Bishop of Barretos , and Cláudio Cardinal Hummes OFM , Cardinal Emeritus Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy .

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Diamantina on March 9, 2016 . The inauguration took place on May 22nd of the same year.

From July 4, 2018 to September 14, 2019, he was also Apostolic Administrator of the vacant diocese of Guanhães .
