action

When the dream ship wants to cast off in Valparaíso , Dr. Schröder, the ship's doctor, cannot be found. Captain Paulsen asks Beatrice, the head hostess, to look for him. Beatrice finds it in a bar. Dr. Schröder sits there calmly with his friend Richard Odenthal and is so absorbed in the conversation that he has not paid attention to the time. Beatrice is impressed by the globetrotter Odenthal. Odenthal smuggled himself aboard shortly before the ship's departure. Paulsen agrees that he lives in an accommodation in the team wing. He is entrusted with looking after the wine cellar , with Beatrice keeping a watchful eye on him.

Helga Berger is also on board with her daughter Patricia and her friend Nicola. She wants to offer her daughter something special for her 18th birthday and has booked this dream trip for it. Patricia is supposed to get to know her father Johannes on this special day. That should be the icing on the cake, Helga Berger wants to give her daughter an unforgettable day.

Janosch, a former master thief who has actually given up his "job", has planned to spend a peaceful vacation on the cruise ship. Now, of all places, he meets his former young “partner” Sebastian, who has since been hired as an electrician on the ship. Janosch cannot resist the temptation and puts Sebastian under pressure to help him with a coup in which he wants to empty the safe when almost everyone is on shore leave. Sebastian should ensure that the power goes out briefly. The undertaking actually succeeds, but is later thwarted by Sebastian's clever friend Angela. Angela adjusts Sebastian's head as well, but asserts that she will stick with him, and casually lets him know that she is expecting a child from him. This is wonderful news for Sebastian and he promises Angela that he will never, ever get drawn into such a thing again.

Since Helga Berger has sprained her ankle, she can not take part in the shore leave and so it happens that Patricia and Nicola explore the country with Johannes. Of course, neither of them know that Patricia is Johannes' daughter and Johannes falsely assumes that Nicola is his daughter. Johannes asks Nicola to stand next to the Moais , the enigmatic stone monuments, and then tells the girls something about the history of the island, e.g. B. that the Moais were very likely carved out of the volcanic rock of the island by immigrant Polynesians and then erected. It is assumed that the Moais were part of a cult of the dead ; around 900 figures have been found around the island, mostly on the coast, to date. The three also visit the Orongo cult site , the “Bird Man's Square”, the most mysterious place on the island. When Patricia tries to take a photo of Johannes and her friend Nicola, she slips unhappily and can only hold on to a ledge with difficulty. Below her there is a steep and deep descent. Johannes tells the frightened girl to keep calm and manages to pull her back upstairs. All three are very relieved. Patricia later gives him a kiss out of gratitude. When Nicola says, "hey, that could be your father", Patricia replies "but he's not, unfortunately!"

Beatrice is on shore leave with Richard Odenthal. He takes her to a local festival and Beatrice is thrilled. Richard looks at her lovingly. When Odenthal later wants to show you the most beautiful places on the island in an ancient jeep , the car breaks down on the way. Later they sit by the fire and enjoy their togetherness. Richard says: “There are moments that are only nice for two”, to which Beatrice replies dryly: “Then it's good that I came with you”. When they visit a copper mine the other day, Richard tells her that Chile is one of the largest copper producers in the world. She asks him, since she still assumes that he is a poor eater who gets by with odd jobs, whether he would like to look for work here. Richard looks at her meaningfully and says, "To put it correctly, I'm the boss here". Beatrice looks at him in disbelief and, after she has recovered somewhat, says that he was kidding her the whole time and making fun of her. He credibly assures her that he thinks she is helpful, generous and humorous and that she is a wonderful woman. "Let's see if I like the rich eccentric too," she says with a smile.

Back on board, Beatrice is actually looking forward to an evening together with Richard, but is needed by the captain because the empty ship was unexpectedly chartered by an extremely important and influential man for a romantic evening. When Richard turns out to be this man, the captain and the doc are at first perplexed and then very excited to see who this lady is for whom someone comes up with something like that. When Richard Odenthal approaches Beatrice, the two men look rather stupidly out of the laundry. For Beatrice and Richard it will be an unforgettable evening on deck with music and dancing by candlelight and the starry sky above them. Richard made Beatrice's dream come true, which she told "the poor eater" about. When Richard Odenthal meets Beatrice the other day in her hostess uniform, he knows what that means and that she will not go with him.

Meanwhile, Helga Berger reproaches Johannes for still being the same charmer as he used to be and for having turned the heads of the two girls. He credibly assures Helga that he has never flirted with the girls and that he is only interested in one woman, namely her, and that he could very well imagine forming a family with her and their daughter. On the birthday evening it becomes clear that Patricia is his daughter and not Nicola. Patricia hugs her father and laughs, explaining: "Now I almost fell in love with my father".

At the captain's dinner , Captain Paulsen gives his obligatory speech, summarizes all the events of the past time together, all problems are solved and everyone cheers to each other.

background

Chile is a state in the southwest of South America . The country borders the Pacific Ocean to the west and south , Peru to the north and Argentina and the Atlantic Ocean to the east . Easter Island (Rapa Nui) in the Pacific is part of the national territory . Around 5,000 Polynesians ( Rapanui ) live on Easter Island . Easter Island is very interesting, especially from an archaeological point of view. The Rapa Nui National Park on Easter Island is one of the most famous national parks in Chile. The Atacama Desert extends between the coast and the western main Andean chain . In the past, the desert was known for its large saltpeter deposits, whereas today it is mainly copper that is mined there. The world's largest open-cast copper mine is located in Chuquicamata in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile.
