Datu Odin Sinsuat (Dinaig) , is a municipality in the province of Maguindanao on the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines . The municipality used to be known as Dinaig and was the seat of the provincial administration of the former Shariff Kabunsuan province .
Origin of name
The community is named after Datu Odin Sinsuat, a former mayor of the village who held this office for over forty years.
geography
To the north of Datu Odin Sinsuat is the urban area of Cotabato City . In the northeast lies the municipality of Kabuntalan, in the west Talitay and Talayan, from the province of Maguindanao , in the south the municipality Upi and in the east there is the coast along the Gulf of Moro .
In the east the municipality is flat and level, in the middle Datu Odin Sinsuat has highlands and mountain areas, while in the west the coastal region can be found.
The community has a total area of 5,032 km². This makes it the largest municipality in the Shariff Kabunsuan province after the municipality of Upi.
The most famous site in the community area is the Mindanao State University campus.
economy
The main source of income for the community's citizens is agriculture and fishing. Datu Odin Sinsuat has many beautiful beaches that have been developed into resorts and serve as weekend excursion destinations for the residents of Cotabato City. The community is the seat of the MSU-Maguindanao University campus .

history
The municipality of Dinaig was elevated to the status of an administrative municipality on August 18, 1947 with Executive Order No. 82. It was later renamed Datu Odin Sinsuat in honor of its most respected citizen, who served as mayor for over 40 years.
Datu Odin Sinsuat became a haven for families displaced from neighboring communities by the civil war between the Muslim freedom fighters, the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), and government forces.
