action

In the middle of Stefan Book's Sunday sermon, sexton Eddi climbs up the church tower and wants to plunge into the depths from a window. Book follows him and tricked him so that Eddi abandons his plan. After that, Book gives his conscience a little more and they both go on to day-to-day business. The next human problem that the pastor has to deal with is 16-year-old Paloma Würl. She is a member of his St. Pauli congregation and is pregnant by her boyfriend Winni Wu, who is also underage. She fears that she will no longer be able to meet her obligations to care for her alcoholic mother if she also has to look after a child. The youth welfare office takes a similar view and supports the placement of Paloma in a mother and child home. But since Pastor Stefan Book is willing to act as private guardian, the girl can stay in the church after the child is born. He made this decision quite spontaneously, without asking his long-time friend Sabine Sattler, with whom he actually wanted to go on vacation together. In order to be able to show an orderly family life, he needs her and must first ask her for forgiveness.

Meanwhile, Paloma is convinced that it would be better to put the child up for adoption so that he is spared a fate like hers. She happens to talk to the pimp Bodo Schüler about it, who tries to persuade her to give the child to people who would also pay for it. Before she can really think about it, Pastor Book manages to find her own apartment for Paloma and Winni. As good as that sounds, it also creates problems, because the young people are simply unable to keep the household in order and fully rely on Pastor Book. To make matters worse, Paloma's mother now also imagines that she is getting custody of her grandchild. But even the youth welfare office thinks that it is better to take the child away from Paloma, because after the examinations of the baby it is clear that it is too small for its age. Such children are called "gray children" because the mothers mostly smoked and drank alcohol during pregnancy. Unaffected by this, Paloma and Winnie are enjoying the time with their child.

With all problems in the church, Pastor Book also has his concerns. On the one hand, he is accused of neglecting the duty to supervise, because Paloma's child was conceived on the youth trip that he organized and accompanied. As a result, he could no longer be tolerable as a pastor and be dismissed. On the other hand, he didn't get any good news from the clinic where he recently had an examination. Before he can really think about it, Paloma isn't acting like a responsible mother. She really wants to go out again and comes home very drunk. When you blame her, it comes to a scandal and Paloma makes a momentous decision. She hands her child over to Bodo Schüler, but then changes her mind. But now the child is gone. Pastor Book's sister takes care of it and encourages her brother to pray. She immediately holds the pimp accountable and calls on the child immediately. But he weighs it down and says there is nothing more he can do. It was no longer in his hands because that would be a different league and the guys weren't kidding. He would only have been the mediator. But his colleague "Kautschuk" says that he will bring the baby back and he actually succeeds. After this adventure, Pastor Book realizes that he has failed and that the youth welfare office is the better carer for the young mother and her child. After he will baptize the child on the weekend, both should move to a mother-child home.

While Pastor Book was officially on vacation to take care of Paloma, the young vicar Anke Bertram took over the official business. When she looked after the decrepit Rosi and visited the hospital, she managed to find out that she was the mother of sexton Eddi. Overjoyed to get to know his birth mother after all these years, he kidnaps her from the hospital and says that he would never give her back now. Pastor Book is of the opinion, however, that Rosi can never be Eddi's mother. The vicar only replied: Faith moves mountains.

Reviews

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv draws a rather bad judgment and says: "With Fedder, Broich & a more modern pace, this ARD series has other options."

Kino.de wrote: “Even the port pastor's first appearance was not a pure comedy, but the sequel is much more dramatic; The other storylines also tell stories that are basically tragic. The linking of the different levels is not quite as smooth this time, so that the film seems quite episodic. Anna Brüggemann as a young vicar, who should definitely stay with the ensemble, brings a breath of fresh air to the community.

Ulrich Feld from the FNP said: "The second part was [...] not bad except for the end, which drowned in kitsch."
