Detlev Wilhelm Theodor von Bülow (born April 16, 1854 in Schwerin , † February 11, 1926 in Bad Wildungen ) was a German administrative lawyer . As a member of the Free Conservative Party , he represented the Stormarn district in the Prussian state parliament from 1889 . From 1907 to 1914 he was President of the Province of Schleswig-Holstein .

Life

Detlev von Bülow was the son of the Grand Ducal Mecklenburg Chamberlain Friedrich Gustav von Bülow (1817-1893), landlord of Bothkamp and Bossee (community Westensee ), and the Countess Thekla Holstein . He attended the old grammar school (Flensburg) . After graduating from high school, he began to study law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In 1876 he became active in the Corps Borussia Bonn . As an inactive , he moved to the University of Leipzig , the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Berlin and the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel .

After completing his studies, he was a trainee lawyer at the Frankfurt / Oder Higher Regional Court and a government assessor in Potsdam. In 1885 he returned to his home town of Schleswig-Holstein as a government assessor. In May 1887 he was appointed district administrator of the Stormarn district. In July 1894 he resigned to administer his inherited Fideikommiss Bossee . In 1907 he became President of the Province of Schleswig-Holstein, replacing Kurt von Dewitz . On September 30, 1914, he resigned from office.

Bülow married on August 18, 1888 at Gut Eschelsmark (now part of Kosel ) Magna Bertha Jenny von Wedderkop (born April 16, 1867 at Gut Eschelsmark; † October 14, 1947 at Gut Bossee), the daughter of Chamberlain Friedrich Ludwig Wilhelm von Wedderkop , Landlord on Eschelmark, and Marianne von Hildebrandt.

In 1889 he was elected to the Prussian House of Representatives as a member of the constituency of Schleswig-Holstein 16 (Stormarn) , to which he belonged until February 21, 1907.

Bülow had been an honorary citizen of the city of Friedrichstadt in western Schleswig-Holstein since 1916 , as he was committed to an Eider Bridge in the city during his time as senior president . He was also a royal Prussian chamberlain, real secret councilor and knight of honor of the Order of St. John .
