Adolf Wilhelm Kurt Freiherr von Wilmowsky (born May 7, 1850 in Merseburg , † August 6, 1941 in Jena ) was a German manor owner , head of the Reich Chancellery , President of the Province of Schleswig-Holstein and Governor of the Province of Saxony .

Life

The Wilmowsky family (also Wilmowski) was raised to the Polish nobility in 1558 by King Sigismund II August of Poland. In 1561 members of the family received a Bohemian coat of arms.

Kurt von Wilmowsky was the son of Karl von Wilmowsky (1817-1893), 1869-1888 head of the secret civil cabinet of Kaiser Wilhelm I and a member of the Prussian mansion, which was raised to the hereditary baron status in the Kingdom of Prussia, and Anna Freifrau von Wilmowsky born von Seebach († 1895). In 1919 Wilmowsky became a member of the Academy of Non-Profit Science in Erfurt .

Out of special royal trust, he was appointed to the Prussian mansion for life by the Supreme Order of June 16, 1913 . This mandate ended with the November Revolution of 1918. In the mansion he was the leader of the Conservative faction. On December 28, 1915 he became district deputy in the Eckartsberga district. In 1918 he became a member of the DNVP . For this he was elected to the provincial parliament of the province of Saxony . This elected him in 1921 to the Prussian State Council, which he presided over as senior president at the constituent meeting. He was a member of the State Council until December 31, 1928. He was deputy chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the State Council.

Von Wilmowsky married on May 28, 1877 Auguste von Wilke (born April 7, 1856 ), the daughter of Hermann Karl von Wilke ( Consul General in London and Privy Legation Councilor in the Foreign Office ) and Sidonie von Wilke nee. Nuglish . In 1893 he acquired the Marienthal manor near Eckartsberga in the province of Saxony. His son Tilo von Wilmowsky was an agricultural politician for the German National People's Party and, after his marriage to Barbara Krupp, deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Friedrich Krupp AG .
