The golden goose is a German fairy tale film from 1953. It is based on the Grimm fairy tale Die goldene Gans .

action

The little princess, who gets everything she wants and yet can never laugh, lives in a castle. Everyone who lives in the castle is constantly trying to make the princess laugh, but in vain. The king, who is very worried about his daughter, concludes the following resolution with his councilors: "Whoever makes the princess laugh, should have her as a wife and half the kingdom too." After a short time, the first suitors tried their luck, but none of the suitors made her laugh. Three brothers are also free for the princess. In the forest they meet a little man who asks for a piece of bread. Hochausweis and Siebengescheit reject the little forest man with wicked words. Hans shares his last piece of bread with him and is richly rewarded for it. He receives a golden goose that tells him to always go his straight way with her. She is soon discovered by a curious girl who wants to steal a golden feather. “Stick on!” Says the golden goose and the woman sticks to her. In addition to her, others also touch the goose and one sticks behind the other. Hans sets out to see the princess together with the “stuck on” train. The journey was worth it: the princess laughs!

According to the decision, Hans would have to get the princess as his wife, but the king breaks his word. He does not want to give his daughter to such a simple person as a wife. The princess resists it and goes to the goose and finally sticks to it. Now the king is forced to keep his promise to get his daughter free again. Hans receives the princess and half the kingdom.
